Belle & Sebastian have become one of the latest bands to pledge support to the War Child project, ‘Help: A Day In The Life’.  War Child have gathered together bands including Razorlight, Elbow and Bloc Party who will take just one day to record a piece of music which War Child will make available on warchildmusic.com on September 9th. A physical CD album release of the tracks will follow a few weeks later.
War Child was launched in 1993 as a response to the affect of the Balkans conflict on children. In 1995, 20 of the UK’s bands and artists went into studios across Europe to each produce a track for ’Help’, the fastest-ever number one album in British music history. Like the original album, the charity aims to record and get the ‘Help: A Day In The Life’ album onsale as quickly as possible, setting themselves the challenge of breaking their own 1995 record and releasing the fastest album ever.
In the one single day that it will take the artists to record their songs, War Child will have helped reduce some of the fear felt by the many children it comes into contact with around the world.  The album will once again raise funds to help children in war-torn regions including Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and The Democratic Republic of Congo.
