Belle and Sebastian have revealed that their new album which will be released on October 11th 2010 (October 12th in North America) is called ‘Belle and Sebastian Write About Love’. While designing the sleeve Stuart asked Kim from Glasgow band Zoey Van Goey to write the title in chalk in some secluded spots around the city of Glasgow.
The band thought it might be fun if you tried the same thing, and either filmed yourself writing it or got someone to take a picture. You can upload the results to their Flickr group (to do this you will need to sign up to Flickr if you are not already a member, and join the group).
The deadline for submissions is August 25th and Belle and Sebastian will present some of their favourite entries with prizes in September. Even without that incentive it’s worthwhile entering your picture or footage as the band hope to use a lot of the submissions in gallery form, in the Belle and Sebastian TV show they’re making. The sooner you submit your photo the more likely it is that it will be included. Click here to see one of the band’s favourites among the entries so far on the splash page of their website or here to see the sleeve artwork for the album, watch a clip of the tv show and hear a preview of one of the new songs from the record.
Good luck if you enter the competition, just remember to use chalk or something non-permanent!
