Belle & Sebastian and Snow Patrol’s latest albums have both been recognised by the judges of the Nationwide Mercury Prize. They join a shortlist of twelve of the best British albums of the last 12 months in the contest for one of the countries most prestigious music awards. Also on the shortlist are The Streets, Franz Ferdinand, Keane and Basement Jaxx. The winner will be announced on September 7.
