Added on 30th October 2000

The Gentle Waves released their first new material in over a year with the EP ‘Falling From Grace’ which was released on October 30th 2000.

The title song on this EP is taken from the long-player “Swansong For You”. Its dark, baroque atmosphere plays host to harpsichord, cello and violins, whilst philosophising on the potential disaster that comes from living with the world’s most perennial four letter word.

‘Going Home’, ‘October’s Sky’ and ‘Hold Back A Thousand Hours’ were recorded with Domino maverick Bill Wells at East Kilbride Arts Centre in the late spring. (It was definitely springtime, as the studio has been lauded for its large Victorian windows).

Isobel met Bill when his singer for The Beat Room (BBC Digital) came down with chickenpox. She was an unlikely candidate to sing an obscure Billie Holiday number but thanked her lucky stars – even if she was a second hand rose. It was a new encounter that was a lot of fun and these songs are a continuation from then.

The EP is available on CD and 12″ with the catalogue numbers JPRCDS019 / JPR12019 respectively. These are available through our international distributors as always.
